• Standalone game: Free Fire India comes as its own app for Indian players.
• Servers in India: Garena says the game is hosted on servers located in India, with stronger data protection measures.
• Wider device support: The game is built to run on a range of phones, from budget to premium devices.
• Diwali campaign: A special in-game campaign celebrating India's cultures runs until November 15.

Free Fire India vs Free Fire MAX

Free Fire MAX has been the main way Indian players enjoyed Free Fire so far. Both games share the same battle royale core, but Free Fire India is a localised version made for India. At the time of writing, Garena has not given full details on what happens to Free Fire MAX in India, or whether existing accounts and progress will carry over.

Until Garena confirms this, our advice is simple: do not delete Free Fire MAX and do not spend money in a hurry. We will update this post as soon as official details are available.

Should You Wait or Download Right Away?

If you are a casual player, download it on day one and try the Diwali event. If you play ranked or tournaments seriously, wait a few days. Launch day usually brings server load, bugs, and balance changes, so it is smart to see how the game settles before you move your main account or your squad.

What Will Change for Tournament Players?

Many players ask whether Free Fire MAX tournaments will continue. Right now, there is no official answer on how the competitive scene will be split between the two games. Practice what you already know in the meantime. Our guides on the best Free Fire MAX characters and the best landing spots will still help you, because the core game remains familiar.
